| The Department of Software and Information
Systems (SIS) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has an
opening for a fixed-term (non-tenure track, core position) lecturer to
teach courses in information technology, web-based application development,
software engineering, and system administration; advise undergraduate
students; and assist in the department’s administrative processes.
Appointments will be made for a two-year term, beginning with the Fall
semester of 2006, and are renewable based on performance.
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree and at least 18 graduate
credit hours in information technology, computer science, or a related
field and have previous experience teaching information technology or
computer science courses at the college level. Experience in the IT industry
is highly desirable. The Department offers degrees at the Bachelors, Masters,
and Ph.D. levels and is dedicated to creating a world-class community
of scholars. It is currently in a period of significant growth, providing
new faculty with a unique opportunity to participate in its future.
UNC Charlotte has a student enrollment of over 20,000 with plans to grow
to 28,000 by 2012. The University has seven Colleges (Information Technology,
Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Health and Human Services, Architecture,
Education, and Business Administration) offering a variety of Baccalaureate,
Master’s, and Ph.D. programs. The Department of Software and Information
Systems is located within the College of Information Technology along
with the Department of Computer Science. The College has approximately
500 undergraduate majors and almost 300 graduate students.
