How to fulfill the
object-oriented programming and data structure admissions requirement?
You can fulfill the requirement in one of
three ways:
- One option to fulfill this
requirement is to take the sequence ITCS 1214 and 1215 at UNC
Charlotte.
- If you would like to take a
different set of courses, please consult the following syllabus to
make sure that they cover the same material.
- If you can demonstrate substantial
professional experience in the following topic list areas:
- Basics of input/output
- Control structures - if/else,
while, do-while, for, break and continue
- Recursion
- Arrays and Strings
- Pointers and relationship to
arrays and strings
- Objects, information hiding,
references, public and private constructs
- Constructors and destructors
- Method overloading, operator
overloading, friends keyword
- Classes and inheritance
- Virtual functions and
polymorphism
- Files and Streams
- Stacks, queues, lists, and heap
- Sorting
- Searching (binary trees)

Can you fulfill the
object-oriented programming and data structure admissions requirement at
CPCC?
Yes. ITCS 1214 is equivalent to CSC 120
at CPCC. ITCS 1215 is equivalent to CSC 130 at CPCC

Is
the Masters of Science Information Technology program an automatic
feeder program to the IT Ph.D. program?
No. Successful completion of the
Masters of Science
Information Technology program does
not guarantee admission of the IT Ph.D. program at UNC Charlotte.

What courses may be
transferred to the Masters of Science Information Technology program?
- Students may transfer up to 6 credit
hours (2 courses) of post-baccalaureate coursework.
- Students enrolled in a COIT graduate
certificate program, may transfer all relevant certificate hours as to
the Masters of Science Information Technology program.
The application of all transfer
hours to the degree requirements is subject to the approval of the
program director.
All other transfer policies of the
UNC Charlotte Graduate School will also apply to this program.
Note: Students enrolled in the Masters
of Science Information Technology program may transfer relevant masters
hours to a COIT graduate certificate program, as long as their
enrollments in the Masters of Science Information Technology program and
the COIT certificate program overlap.

What is an
acceptable GRE / GMAT score?
Applications are evaluated in their
entirety. The GRE / GMAT score is one of the factors. We will not be
able to tell whether scores are satisfactory without the entire
application package.
